Farmer Liaison:

The Farmer Liaison will work directly with farmers who are or are seeking to enter wholesale market channels, particularly in farm to institution or food services. The Farmer Liaison will work with a diverse group of food suppliers including farmers that grow and raise produce, grains, poultry, meat, eggs, and dairy.

This position will provide and coordinate training, access to regulatory information and regulators, and provide technical services to farmers. They will be able to assess readiness for wholesale sales, and build capacity for farmers to reach wholesale goals.

This could include information, strategies, and connections for production, processing, storage, transport, audits, collaboration with peer farmers, diversification, grading, packaging, pricing, and buyer meeting preparation.

The farmer liaison will closely coordinate with the team of Value Chain Professionals and the Deputy Director to ensure farmers are presented with opportunities for sales.

The farmer liaison will also supply weekly reporting and data entry into the CRM and analysis to further support the FARMWISE Indiana team and stakeholders.

This is a remote position and will require travel and occasional night and weekend hours.

Regional Value Chain Professional:

The Regional Value Chain Professionals (VCP) will work as a team and under the direction of the Deputy Director of FARMWISE Indiana to advance values-aligned institutional food purchasing across Indiana.

In partnership with other organizations, agencies, and businesses who support food supply chains, the Regional VCPs will address regionalized food system needs using an asset-based approach to strengthen and foster connections, facilitate sales, and build relationships and trust necessary for long-term impact on local food economies and community health.

FARMWISE Indiana is a nonprofit, charitable 501c3 organization that is grant and donor funded. All activities of the VCPs must align with charitable mission, deliverables associated with funders, and the overall and annual goals of the organization.

The Regional VCPs will build and maintain strong relationships among farmers, food businesses, buyers, administrators, and partners across a region. They will host casual meetings, educational training, and foster transactions between suppliers and buyers. They will travel to meet and support stakeholders and foster business to business networks that support a diversity of food production, processing, aggregation, and coordination including produce, dairy, meat, poultry, eggs, and grains. Candidates will work from home, but travel to meet stakeholders and attend meetings and events. It is expected that VCPs travel a least 1-3 days per week.

This is remote position and will require travel and occasional night and weekend hours. Candidates must live within the region they serve: Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, Southwest.
