Local Food Procurement Partnership Guide

This Guide from FARMWISE Indiana is designed to facilitate successful partnerships between local food suppliers and wholesale buyers. While this Guide may seem like a lot of information, each section is designed to help avoid the common pitfalls that can occur in communications and negotiations between buyers and suppliers.

It is important to evaluate as much of this information as possible before meeting with a potential partner. The questions are designed for self-reflection and to facilitate planning. The ‘devil is in the details’ as they say, and this Guide opens up the questions that must be answered to make markets happen.

We have split the guide into 3 parts:

• Part 1 is for the Food Supplier to complete

• Part 2 is for the Food Buyer to complete

• Part 3 are the documents that can help guide the negotiations and agreements for the two parties to prepare for the first delivery or purchase.
